DeLand, with 30,000 plus residents, is centrally located between the Orlando attractions to the southwest and the Atlantic beaches on the northeast. It is noted as a thriving city distinct in its history as well as what it has to offer visitors. With interesting and definitely unique retail shops—no run of the mill here; award winning eateries—from Zagat rated to eclectic wine, microbrew and sports bars; to a good collection of artistic and cultural venues—from first-class music, community theater and various museums, The city’s assets belie its physical size. From stories in the media to online travel sites, DeLand is recognized as an exciting travel destination or possibly even a place to spend a lifetime.
(especially in Southeast Asia) a three-wheeled public conveyance operated by pedals, typically one having a hooded cab for two (or more) passengers mounted behind the driver.
DeLand Pedicab LLC was started by lifelong (60 years and counting) DeLand resident, Ted Beiler. "We used to say that DeLand rolled up the sidewalks at 5:00 PM. Weekends, many left town for food and fun".
Wow, how times have changed! Although outdoor events do slow down from the beginning of June till the middle of September (it's hot and wet), there are still plenty of things to do. When summer starts winding down, things pick up quickly; Stetson University football, craft fairs, art shows, music festivals, parades, etc. It's a good time!
So, I thought, "Having been to many active areas around the country and seeing how well the eco-friendly pedicab fits in, I think that DeLand has become a perfect fit for a couple of them."
Hope to see you around town!
